I love this post so much. Thanks for writing it. I'm going to link to it in my weekly newsletter that goes on this Friday.
I don't have children, but I have nieces and nephews. And I want them to know about their spiritual legacy. So I wrote three essay books, which I call legacy books. I released them to the public, but really, I hope my nieces and nephews will pick them up someday and see how God worked in their lineage long before they were born.
Nearly fifteen years ago, I also set a recorder in front of my mom and just asked her to tell her stories. She talked about her work days, dates with my dad, summers she spent in a little town with her aunt, growing up in the post-Depression era and so much more. I have those recordings saved and backed up in multiple places. They are more precious than gold to me.
Hi Lee, thank you so much for letting me know. It’s amazing and wonderful that you have written these legacy books for your nieces and nephews, truly passing on the great deeds of God to the next generation. And how wise you were to record your mom telling those stories. I’ll bet they are more precious than gold. Sometimes we don’t realize how many stories of our parents we don’t really know until they are no longer here to tell them. Thanks for sharing this post too!
I am so desirous to get doing this. Discipling myself is a challenge but I want to move in this direction. Especially with great grands growing. Thanks for the encouragement and tools
It is always a challenge to make ourselves do it. As much as I believe in it, it was only telling that simple story to my grandson that made me think I really need to start intentionally writing these down. I'm thinking about starting a coaching workshop that would provide that accountability for all of us who wish to do this.

Keep me in mind; an accountability group would be helpful. Not weekly though - got to weave this discipline into place. :)
Good thought! Maybe in the fall, and maybe monthly for six months?
